CAD TO METAL

Arcam's method considerably shortens the product development process

With Arcam's method a metallic object is produced directly from metal powder.

During the CAD to Metal process, an electron beam melts metal powder in a layer-by-layer process to build the physical part. The Arcam EBM machines use a powder bed configuration and are capable of producing multiple parts in the same build.
 

1. The part is designed in a 3D CAD programme.

2. The part is built up in the Electron Beam Melting (EBM) process.

3. The result is a solid metal part.
 

ELECTRON BEAM MELTING

The Electron Beam Melting (EBM) process is efficient and provide access to hight power to melt the metal.

The need for faster and shorter processes is continuously increasing and in this development process, Arcam's technology plays an essential part.

Arcam's method for manufacturing metal objects directly from a CAD model provides a great opportunity for faster development and manufacturing processes.

Arcam presently offer the following materials for the EBM process:

• Ti6Al4V (ASTM F136)
• Ti6Al4V ELI (ASTM F136)
• CoCr Alloy (ASTM F75)
